Needle Lift Injector for setting timing for a MTDI pump

Has anyone set up a timing light to a needle lift injector for timing a MTDI pump???

If so, please explain the circuit and timing light connection.

Thanks in advance!

J.S

The VM 425 diesels have a #1 injector that has a sensor on it that detects when the injector fires. Apart from the sensor its a very standard Bosch injector. You could probably purchase one & use it if you wanted to develop some sort of electronic timing method. The VM as used in non US jeeps like mine have a drive by wire injector pump. it looks like a rotary Bosch pump except it has no cable or lever & a couple of wire looms coming out of it. They were also used in other European cars including fords.
