Just make sure... that she always walks in front of the car to get to the other side and not behind the car

Cute story! I've always heard church is a good place to meet women. I found mine at work. The first time I met her, she was interning in the production department and I thought she was sweet but nerdy. I never thought we could work out. A year went by before I asked her on a date. Well, I was right, she is sweet and nerdy. It's grown on me just a little. I can tell her how to rebuild a set of Diesel injectors and she can tell me about the different special effects used in Star Wars and Star Trek.

She drives a 2004 or something Mazda 6. She likes the car but keeps saying she wants a new one. I tried to convince her to get a MB Diesel but she does not like that idea. She likes my car but wouldn't want to drive it. Probably because she has never driven one...

Sounds like you got a winner!

If you get them, this is my 84 500SEL. The old geiser with the hat on could be me.

Paul

Paul,
Great car! Excellent idea to do as a wedding car, if you can use the 300SD, it's such a classic.

I plan to repaint the 126 I have in its original champagne color, since it still has no rust (being a down south car).

Say Paul. where did you get the snazzy chauffeur's cap? Better than the cheesy ones you see on the Net. It looks like a USMC saucer cap!

Strelnik, I borrowed it from a Charlotte fire fighter. It turns out that police, firemen, some military and maybe others use the same basic hat and just decorate them differently. He removed the decorations and it became a chauffeurs hat.

It's a Maaco job. Not show quality or anything but a sight better than what was left on the car. I paid $1500. They were nice enough to paint my sunroof shut as well...

Edit: Oh, and nice enough to sand the window trim that I didn't have time to pull.

Similar story here. October 1987 in Atlanta. I was in between colleges working as a telecom tech on one of the many high rises going up in Downtown Atlanta. Had worked the past 21 days straight since we were under deadline. Boss came by for Sunday volunteers, I said no, I missed church the last 3 weeks, got to go this weekend. She was there, she had just arrived new in town looking for a job.

Got married in Sept. 1988 in her home town in rural OK. We made our getaway in my little 85 Honda Civic 1.5 L hatch back. I don't miss having that car any more. I saw one in a parking lot a while back and thought, I drove that  cross country. There were 2 hurricanes going through the gulf, one hit when we were driving out thru AL/MS and the other came through OK on our wedding day. Both times the car nearly floated away.

She had a 86 Celica GT at the time, sweet car but I couldn't drive it since I am 6'3, I literally had to sit with my head cocked 45 degrees.

Good times, still married after 26 years ;)

Great wedding

Eaton, October came quick didn't it? Big respect on taking the resto that far for your wedding, people will remember the SD more than a rented limo anyway. Looks like you had some say in your wedding planning too. Did it feel wrong to cut the star on the pecan pie? :P I thought she wanted to have cans tied to the bumper, what happened with that? My wife made it clear to the wedding party that they not tie, strap, cover or draw anything on the car hahaha.

Congrats again,
Oh and by the way, now that your wife knows the type of detailed work you can accomplish on the benz, its just a matter of time before she starts asking what you can fix on the house. ;)
