Sachs Super Touring 115 069 vs Bilstein B4 comforts 22-001856

Anybody here have experience with the above mentioned W124 front struts?

These are the comfort/standard suspension versions by these makers.

I'm wondering if Bilstein builds a bit more stiffness than OE into even these standard spec model, and/or if Sachs will be most faithfull to OE spec as they are usually known to.

Looking for the best ride possible, no sport consideration at all. I've been down the HD road and it wasnt for me.

These do provide original ride quality but only if the rest of the suspension is in good shape. Namely the balljoints, the control arm bushings, the tie rod and draglink ends and finally the strut mounts.

The rear is far more dependant on the bushings to give a good ride otherwise the whole suspension and subframe drops like an anchor on each pothole giving a sensation of stiff suspension or worn out shock absorber.

Weird thing about oldschool w124 front struts is that if you follow the fsm for testing them, you will find that they are usually in good condition even after all these years.

I hear you! This of course presupposes that the rest of the suspension is good.

Fronts, most everything is new. Top mounts (Febi), lower arm bushes (Lemforder), lower arm ball joints (Lemforder), tie rods and drag link, idler kit (all LMI).

Rear I did all the subframe bushes and diff mount bushes, swaybar bushes/links, and lower arm spherical bushes
The multilinks were in surprisingly good shape, and the rear Bilsteins were marked "West Germany" so looked to have been there a long time and tested good.

New wheel bearings all around too.
