Used glow plug analysis
Hi all,
These are the glow plugs that I have pulled from my engine. OM617-951. Over the winter, I had to replace three plugs with what I had for spares, which were Autolite plugs. Yesterday, my girlfriend and I replaced all 5 plugs in the car with new Bosch plugs. I also reamed the GP holes before installing the new plugs. I am wondering about the white build up on some of the tips. Usually that means advanced injection timing but I am pretty sure I have the opposite problem just based on how the engine runs. Perhaps someone can explain in more detail. Or perhaps, I am worrying about nothing. http://www.eatoncomp.com/images/83me...s/IMG_2344.JPG |
Someone is going to ask if your are only burning Diesel Fuel?
You might as Dr. Bert as He has been using 28 degrees timing for a long time if His Glow Plugs get that white build up on them. |

Currently running straight D2 but I have run WMO in the past. I've put about 50 gallons through the engine.

Hi Eaton
The deposits look pretty normal for what I have seen on my two cars. I am kind of worried that you have pulled 6 GPs from your engine. :) |

I don't recall my 7.3's plugs having white stuff at the tips but this is not a 7.3, so I figured I should ask. At least post about it in case someone else wants to ask. |
