How do you replace the alternator tensioner on an 83 300SD?

The tensioner screw on mine is really bent, and I heard that they can break when they are like that, so I went and got another bracket from a 240D to replace it. But, the old one is different and I can't get it off. Instead of the bolt that goes though the alternator being out in from the front, the tensioner part is a stud, and it just has a nut on the back. I dont see how it comes off without breaking the bracket, and now Im not sure if the one I got to replace it is right since it is a bit different. Any suggestions?

Mine's bent also maybe not as bad as yours
so am curious to see the responses.

The problem isn't so much that mine is bent (if it was like the 240d one it would be an easy swap), but that its a weird design and idk how to remove it. I will try to get pics tomorrow though.

The bolt in question does come out, from the firewall side towards the radiator.

Make sure the other mounting bolts are at least loosened. Your bracket may be
bent to the point you will need a drift pin to help drive the bolt out.

I thought that was the adjuster on the W115 cars not on the W126.

it's easy to straighten the tensioner stud. replacement bolts are pricey. you can reuse the bolt from the 240 alt though.
removal is easy once the alternator is in your hand with the bracket still attached...

I still dont get it I cant see how that part in the last picture comes off of the alternator and bracket and how to intstall another one without ruining it. I see now why the 240D one is different, the extra stuff on the turbo engine is in the way of putting the bolt in from the back. I think im going to have to just put it back how it was for now, and get a used alternator with the bracket still on it.
