Are you sure it's not burning any oil?

Um, 87 has hydraulic valves... nothing to adjust.

OP,
the black gook in turbo pipe is EGR soot mixed with normal crankcase vapor oil. if you disconnect the EGR controller from the exhaust manifold, and replace the gasket with a solid copper or aluminum sheet, then remove the intake and crossover tube, and clean them REALLY REALLY well, the soot cake will not return. if you then remove the large valve under the air filter, and replace it with a straight piece of 3" intake duct, and cap the vacuum hoses off, your car will reward you with more horsepower, and higher MPG's. be sure and clean out the nipple that feeds manifold pressure to the alda, or remove the alda altogether...

as for the wet tubes, the turbo COULD be sending motor oil to the intake...
remove the crossover tube, and watch the output while someone revs the motor above 2500 and holds it, see if oil is spraying out...

CARBON/TURBO?

THANKS for the help guys,i was thinking it might be turbo sending oil into the cross over pipe .I would like to remove the big valve under the air filter, what does it do? ,will it cause any problems in the future??.I THINK ITs NOT BURNING THE FUEL PROPER sorry caps...after i changed the glow plugs and rebuilt the injectors ,fuel filters.i started it up it took a bit until air was purged out let it warm up but it feels like it bogs down (TO MUCH FUEL)when i give more fuel then causes exhaust smoke. BUT DOES SOUND BETTER NEW INJECTORS.. o2 sensor ??/CAT converter?? WHERE TO GO FROM HERE??THANK YOU RICK

THANKS

HEY I just took the big valve out from under the air box,i notice oil at the turbo about a table spoon,i did rotate the turbo no problems there, but the oil??im worried, the 3" tubing is coated with oil and where the egr is mounted its caked with hard carbon not wet,,i want to remove the valve as you stated but there are so many vac hoses 4 going to each one of the little controllers, not sure what they are called but would love to lose them all i hope i can remember to put them back..rebuild turbo?would it cause the extra smoke??..thanks rick
