300 TD Wagon Electrical Question

I now have the new engine put into my wagon and have run into an electrical glitch. It appears that my buddy who was helping me connected something wrong. When I went to reconnect the battery there was a huge spark. It seems like he connected the starter wrong. I changed those wires and now there is no spark when connecting the battery but there is no power to the fuse panel and the key does not activate the starter.

I can't see what is wrong and it is hard to see where the wire from the battery to the fuse panel runs. I have searched for a thread here and haven't found anything.

Any insights or suggestions?

On my 300D the fuse box is electrically split into two halves. Are you sure there is no power to the entire fuse box?

What ever has happened tracing wires from the major components such as the starter motor, fuse box, alternator etc to the battery might help you find a loose wire or two.

Figured it out

Battery is still good. I started tracing wires and figured out that my friend had placed one of the leads to the starter on the ground lead. I switched it back and viola...everything is as should be. I guess tat wire leads to the fuse panel....

Thanks for the suggestions!!!
