Very unusual transmission problem 84 300TD

Got a 300td I recently been driving

So the transmission ships perfectly all the time. The only problem is that when I'm driving at higher speeds, like highways speeds in 4th when just cruising it seems like the transmission kinda floats in a Neutral position. It only seems to happen when or very close to lifted off the go peddle, It's only when I press more on the peddle the RPMs will wind up and then the transmission will grab a gear (4th)

Any ideas

Thx
Alex

Assuming the fluid level is correct and you've had a recent fluid and filter change; my guess would be something up with either the K2 clutch or the governor (governor less likely as I'd expect it to change down or not change up etc)

If you want to see the positions of the springs in the valve body have a look through this thread =>

722.303 in bits photo shoot

(If I remember correctly the valve body on the 722.315 is the same as the 722.303)

Do you have access to a set of hydraulic pressure gauges so you can measure the fluid pressures in the transmission?

It seems to only do it when I completely lift off the accel pedel
If it's depresed ever slightly it's fine, I wonder if I can just adjust the TV linkage
