A locksmith (or you if you're up to it) may be able to re-key your existing tumbler to fit your original key, as I did with one of my 240Ds, and an 84 Honda Accord I used to have.
Learned how at an indie BMW shop where I used to work. On many '80s BMWs, the driver's door lock cylinders were always wearing out. It took too long to order a matched replacement from the dealer, so we'd get a generic replacement and I'd dissasemble the tumbler and re-arrange the pins to match the original key.
