Question Auto climate control question

I was using the defrost last night because the door windows and the windshield were fogging up
So I turned on the deforst and noticed something wierd
The temp selector was all the way on cold and I felt heated air come out of the dash vents closest to the door windows and the windshield'
The middle two vents were blowing cold air.
When I turned off the defrost everything was operating normal
When I have the defrost on is that the proper operation as described above?

Yes, that's normal. If you want to defrost with something other than hot air, push the second button (the one next to the defrost button).
