My 300cd posses Christine type behavior

My 83 300cd has been sitting on the side yard going on 2 yrs due to some trannie weirdness. It came to make a decession to sale and was bartered down to $800 .The guy calls back and says if I could come off $200 ,I say no way ,calls back in an hr and says no sale , real professional Time Waster.
The car has a sweet motor and almost no rust can be found .As I cleaned up the old girl up with a days worth of elbow grease I sat behind the wheel and opened the glove box ,found a Cream cd I had long lost and cranked up the radio. Its a black car with euro touches for bumpers and lights. The daylight was fading in the west so I cranked it over so as not to lose the battery and continued cleaning the outside ,as I slipped behind the wheel once more I thought after all this time I wonder if this car will slipp into gear,I drop the shifter to drive and sure enough Ive got drive ,I pull the car out frt with the headlights on and walk around this great old car,its beatup a bit but really cleans up nice.Well its onto replacing the shifter bushings and I might just make use of those clk rims Ive been sitting on ,this guy just lost out from what he couldnt even spend the time to come out to see for himself , a great german built car.

Glad to hear you have a renewed interest in it and yes, he did miss out on a good deal.

I have similar situation, the 300SD (W140) has been sitting in the drive all winter, no reverse so no drive in the snow. Even before that time I had not really moved it much with other projects more important. I fired it up a few weeks ago when the snow was gone to get it moving around and since then have devoted a lot of hours to getting things back in good working order.

Six months ago I would have sold it just to have it gone, but now after spending time on it and taking it out on a short 360 mile trip I'm just not sure I can part with it now...

In fact I'm getting ready to repair the transmission issue.
