production figures by color?

hi folks, my benz is a moderately rare '70s color, 504 Englischrot. is there any way to determine how many cars were painted this color?

stats for other options would be interesting too, but the color is what got my attention.

Good question. I have no idea how many cars were painted Medium Red but I have only seen two EVER... And I own both of them :D

Is it possible to get EPC to give this kind of data?

(I mean if you put in your VIN you get what you should have fitted etc - can it go the other way round?)

bricktron 04-04-2013 02:40 PM

i don't know the EPC system - don't they require some grotty browser? - but if anyone wants to look on my behalf....

Answer

The data does exist inside MB, I recall seeing it about 15 years ago.
It was mentioned a few times by automotive review journals, but most have changed their websites Dumping the antique (useless to them) data.

Here is a sample of the common data
The W123 Technical Corner

US Model Chart to 1946

Not much help here, but my '82 240D is 504 English Red, and I found it was built the last month they used that color, December 1982. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I got the info! Get's WAY more attention and compliments than my '83 928S :(

haha caspermj, very nice :-)
