not even close...
they are likely rims from a 124 with spacers under them...
they could be aftermarket though.

No, those are off a 90's Mercedes, the S class if I am not mistaken.

THought they were different, but I think they look good on the old girl, don't ya?

JamesDean 04-10-2013 10:17 PM

hmm I think they are most likely aftermarket.

As vs said, the only way 124/129 rims would fit is with spacers. My one 300SD has those style rims, however they are aftermarket and fit properly.

Those are probably "ASA Type 8" aftermarket knockoffs of the original Mercedes style.

They have been sold by Tire Rack for years (in the correct offset for w116/w123/w126):

Love the colour of that w116!

Naw they came on a lot of the 90's MBZ's. E-Class, S-Class okay I am not certain what else but it is late :sleeping:

IIRC, The SL's, 400/500E's, and 140 chassis.

There was another variant of that style, more "dished." They look like this:

I prefer the look of the more flat variant.

Interestingly enough, one of my 300SD's 8-holes is slightly bent (curbed, not by me!) and we went to order a replacement from TireRack and the paint color did not match at all. So I think there is more than one company producing these.

Those are the same rims on my 1980 300SD. Looks like the same color, too (thistle green). 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Hey, is that my car?!? ;)

Something about that seller I don't trust.

KarTek 04-11-2013 09:08 AM

That's a nice looking car but those rims don't have enough positive offset to look right. The visual mass of the car over hangs the width of the track and makes it look top heavy...

Just my PO.

pawoSD 04-11-2013 09:15 AM

ASA Type 8's. My dad has a set on his 420sel. Nice wheels overall.

Thats a nice looking W116!

TAKES TRADES.

Anything else we need to tell you :D?

People generally don't take trades (unless they specify something they want or need instead, like perhaps a pickup truck, boat, or ATV, etc.).

Curbsiding dealers take trades.

However, all things being equal, it certainly looks tasty and worth a looksee. I wish it were in my backyard.

Usual w116 warning about RUST RUST RUST. I have seen clean cars for sale in that region, but some dogs as well.
