Oil Seperator Valve - Where to get ?

Does anyone have suggestions of where I can get an oil separator valve and the clip that holds it in for a 617 engine? I couldn't find one at Peach Parts and the local Mercedes Parts Dept. wanted $90.00 to order the two parts. That seems more than a bit steep...

I'm not sure what you mean by "oil separator valve". There is an oil separator that is part of the air cleaner, which you can probably source at a local junk yard. For an interesting discussion on other types of separators that guys are using, here's a thread with a number of options - Built a Catch Can

At the Bottom of the Oil Separator Drain there is a Disc Valve and a Tubular type C Clip. It keeps the Crankcase Pressure from pushing up into the Breather.

Ah, forgot about that one. As you point out, the check valve is the same as the ones in the vacuum pump. It would seem like a decent strategy would be to buy a vacuum pump rebuild kit and use one out of there. Then rebuild the vacuum pump and reuse the best used check valve there, giving you 2 good and 1 used. If the VP fails, at least it's accessible and you've still got 2 used valves to repair it.

Just a thought.

I don't recall saying the valve was the same as one in the Vacuum Pump. It is the same design; but I don't know if it is the same size.

When I looked up the Valve at a parts place the MSRP wae $29.50 and the online price was $22.13 (too low to qualify for free shipping).
But, that did not mean they had the item in stock.

The N 007346 6020001 retaining Clip for breather Drain. For some reason if you use that part number at the internet site it does not work. So I was not able to look that up.

Sorry, technically you didn't, however I was assuming that when you pointed to the link Turbo oil drain tube check valve- can't find one! you were communicating that it strongly implies that the two are the same, and one of the links in that thread points to another thread where whunter states - "It appears to be the same valve used in the vacuum pump."

I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth, just trying to give you credit for pointing out the threads that appeared to say that.

I save Threads and other stuff in My notes and when I think someone needs some info that might be there I post them. But, I don't remember all of the details in the Threads or other info and I don't take the time to re-read the Threads.

It could be the Valves in the Vacuum Pump is the same but I don't have personal Knowlege of that.

The Fuel Supply/Lift Pumps on the Engines with no Hand Primers also have similar Valves; but have actually seen any of those either.
