Some stations in California have been selling diesel at the same price or less than premium for over a year now. The high price of gasoline here makes diesel much more competitive. Most of the summer diesel is cheaper than gas by a wide margin if you know where to look.

Yesterday it was $2.79 in western burbs of Philly, about 2.62 when I factor in the fact the station adds Power Service cetane boost for free

That sweet, sweet California diesel. At 6c/mile, does it really matter anymore?

Where is this at? Cheapest I've seen lately has been around $2.60-2.70 on the south side. I may have to start filling up before I leave downtown in the afternoons.

Oh my how things have changed in a month. In Sacramento tonight #2 diesel is 6c cheaper than regular unleaded and renewable diesel "HPR" is 46c cheaper than RUG. The gasoline at this station is relatively cheap compared to the rest of the state.

HPR

Tjts1,
Thanks for posting this.
I have never heard of HPR fuel and I will be trying it in my non
WVO tank next time. Looks interesting. Cheaper too!
Propel Diesel HPR

Hmm, this seems to be a new addition to the propel stations -- I was home in Fresno over Christmas and all they had was B20. I always favored that station due to the lubricity of the bio blends. I'll have to check it out when I'm back in the valley again in a couple weeks.

Look for the other thread going on Diesel HPR. A new thing I just read about and filled up today. Only available now in Sacramento and East Bay (Oakland, Fremont, ...).

I think Propel is purposely underpricing HPR right now to generate interest in a new product. If it saves me money I'm more than happy to take them up on the offer. So far the om603 has been flawless on this fuel. My dad drives a lot fewer miles than me in the 97 E300D so I topped off his tank with a one jerry can of HPR on top of the #2 diesel he already had in there. ~25% HPR mixed into the tank noticibly reduced diesel clatter.

They have a station locator app that also gives real time prices.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.propelfuels.stnlctr
Usually I use the gasbuddy app for this but since some stations sell both #2 and HPR it causes confusion.
