Diesel is not cheaper than RUG around here, but it seems to be cheaper than premium unleaded. What is good this time is that the "normal" diesel penalty in price is offset by diesel engine efficiency.

That wasn't the case in 2007 when diesel was 20% or more expensive than RUG. Then everything I was running was diesel and I was looking around for a cheap economical gasser.

Out here on the Outer Banks, RUG is 4.03, diesel is 4.25. Premium is at 4.25. We get screwed out here anyway since this is a tourist destination.

On Edit: Prices shot up 0.10/gal. on RUG yesterday. It's now 4.13. Diesel bumped up 0.03 to 4.28. Bummer. This is why I'm in the process of making biodiesel...

And it's finally happened... $4.29 RUG and $4.25 Diesel here in KZoo. I guess we're driving the Benz next trip across the state.

just happened here in charlotte... big drop in diesel price today. this morning it was 4.09 everywhere...
most stations today are down to 3.99, but there is one on S.Tryon a SHELL no less... 3.69 RUG is 3.87
wow.
today many grades of fuel have dropped in price, this is the first time in a LONG time D is less than 87 octane unleaded!
and it's a LOT less...

Its even around here. At least at some stations. $3.99. That was last Saturday. I have seen them even or diesel a bit lower over the past few months. When gas rose up quickly, diesel lagged a bit or didn't rise.

East of Charlotte,NC this week reg gas droped from 3.89 to 3.86 but diesel went up from 4.04 to 4.09. Go figure. This is at the station (Shell) I usually use. Most others in the area did the same.

yeah, the ritzy part of charlotte are slow to change. however, the station near my parents on weddington rd (BP) is pretty close to the lowest in that area (unless you go all the way out to stallings...)

We are in Stallings and right now the price of rug is 3.83 to 3.89 and diesel is 3.99 to 4.09. The 3.99 is at the Sunoco at Old Monroe & Potters. They will never get any of my money. I have worked on a lot of diesels that got water at that station and they won't take any responsibility.

heh. potter's sunoco... messy station there.
yeah, the majority of the stations are in the 3.99 range. but in charlotte, on S.Tryon, there's a shell with D2 for 3.69 crazy. up until around 1:00 yesterday, all the stations around me had D for 4.09, and yesterday evening, POOF everything dropped .10 Premium, Plus, and R...
we'll see if it continues or not. even holding the price is OK with me, but I'd LOVE to see the pump below 3 again...

16 gallons, $64 to fill up the 300D

I put 2 gallons in sunday night after I ran out of fuel, then 10 more. The light just turned on and stayed on a mile before the gas station so I went and filled up. So I went 4 days on 9-10 gallons with my usual driving. Which was about 278 miles. The cabriolet would not go 278 miles on 9 or 10 gallons.

I can't wait to see what a full tank yields.
