I looked to Pelican but they say they don't ship due to hazardous or explosive device. Local pickup only.

Is there a way I can get one of these things without hopping on a plane to California?

I'm sure the answer is in the archives somewhere but I din find it.

How do they get shipped from the factory to the vendors? Pelican had to get them shipped in some way.

Charlie, Yeah, I'd rather buy my parts from Pelican/Peachparts. I'll try to give a call tomorrow and see if there is a workaround.

In the meantime, I'll sit here and try to decode the cryptic answers.

Like you, I would prefer to support the forum when possible. Also, Pelican sells a better brand of SLS accumulator than the other web vendors out there. So I contacted sales a week or so ago (Daniel responded) and pointed out that the competition is able to ship them ground, but he was unable to change the rule that Pelican feels they are pick-up only. So based on that response, I think we are forced to order from others if we are not near their warehouse. If you do check with Pelican sales and get a different answer, would you please share it with us here. Because as I said, they sell the brand I want at a fair price, but I need them shipped to me. Good luck.

My statement was based on Pelican claiming that Corteco is the OEM supplier. Also, I have had mixed experiences with Febi and Meyle parts, so I try to find OE parts at non-OE prices. My comment was not based on personal experience.

Why are these things so expensive? Is there something else that could be used in its place? I wonder if those low rider car guys have a work around for these 600 dollar metal spheres filled with gas.

I need 2 sets for our wagons but just can't bring my cheapness under control to spend the $.

I was looking at a small expansion tank that the father inlaw bought for his boiler / in-floor heating system....trying to figure out a way to mcguyver something else in its place. I think he paid 60 bucks for this thing and it had a tire valve at one end to adjust pressure. His tank might be too big to fit under the car though...

I can understand why people convert these wagons to go without sls. The price for those spheres is prohibitive and for what they are, absolutely retarded....and if that is'nt bad enough look at the price for the shocks to go with the spheres.

Speaking of China... when are they going to start making the accumulators, I need some cheap.

Think the MB accumulators are pricy?

I wonder if there has been a low rider w123 wagon done. I would think the platform would already lend itself to a well done low rider project complete with an aftermarket kit that bolts in close to what we have on the car now. It could maybe even increase the versatlity and comfort of the ride for less money, some of that stuff could be competing with what we have in terms of technology and resources from the low rider world. It would be cool to have some thing that had more comfortable ride but could adjust it for ground clearance inside from the drivers seat. If I was rich...mine would look stock but also be able to raise up in case of snow drifts or drop down lower for highway cruising - aerodynamic efficiency.

too bad we cannot fit citroen items in there - they are rebuildable.
