wagon question

Hello guys. I have an 82 300td wagon. I love the car but it is time to move on to something different . I want to sell it and want to see it go to someone who will take care of it and understand the car. Are these cars still popular? What would be my best place to try to sell it? Thanks for the help guys.

Where are you located?
The best place to sell it is in the Classified Ads section of this forum and your local Craigslist.

Craigslist is good except be prepared for:
- Nut jobs calling just for fun (or worse showing up with bad intents)
- low ballers offering you $200 and then pull out a check book
- hipsters that want to try running WVO after reading an article on the net (not bashing the WVO crowd on this site, just the ones who think they know what they are doing after reading an evening's worth of material and that single-tank is the way to go).

I purchased my W210 from a forum member, it was a very smooth experience.

I recommend PICTURES!!!

list all the work you have done with the car, it's recent history, and any problems you are aware of.

ALWAYS include any problems you have with the car, it shows you are honest about the car, and want the best for it.

If you do post it on craigslist beware of anyone offering to pay online for the car (Paypal and the like). It's safe to treat those as scam attempts. I recently posted a car for sale; got a text message and an email from a guy who said he wanted to pay via Paypal and he'd someone to pick up the car.
I searched his email address on Google and guess what - he had approached dozens of other people offering to buy cars from them.
Good luck with the sale!

I just bought an 83 TD wagon, and based on the other people who contacted the seller in the day or two that he had the ad up, I would say there are still people looking for these practical vehicles! Watch out for scams as others have noted. There's good buyers out there, just be upfront about the condition and any issues, and realistic on your price. Check out other ads on the net to get an idea of asking price, though that can vary quite a bit depending on condition and location, as I was made to understand. Based on my experience selling a few cars, don't necessarily pass up the first offer you get, if it's decent. It may in fact be the best offer you will ever get! Good luck.
