You did two things wrong. You did not allow enough cure time and you probably did not peel the tape AWAY from the paint. You need to start peeling in such a way that you are peeling the tape with the painted tape edge at a 90 degree angle from the edge of the painit, if that makes sense.

Id say to always scuff up with 400/600 grit sandpaper to ensure good paint adhesion. I dont know how they came from the factory (if they primed and painted) so stripping the original paint, scuffing, prime and paint would be the course id take.
