A $75 dollar cutoff would have me doing three transaction to fill the Dodge from empty at the fuel prices around here ($1.227/LITER).
OTOH, at the local fuel stop, you don't have to pre-pay or give them your drivers license, you fill your vehicle and pull up to the store so someone else can fuel up while you pay the girls inside. The price of fuel brings tears to your eyes, living in this type of community has benefits. You wouldn't go away and leave your doors unlocked or the keys in the car, but it hasn't gotten real bad.

But since you did, I rarley put more than 37 gallons at a time in and most of my fills are with winter diesel (since that is when I drive it the most) and a 373 rear, 16-18 is pretty much the norm, a tad higher in the summer. Or perhaps you have more experience with 6.5?

I didn`t catch what the cut off was in the begining here. I don`t use a Credit Card, just give them a $100 bill and come back in for the crumbs.
The majority of the time in my PU I give the guy $20 Bucks and that gives me 5 gal + -, then I get the cut off. that is good for a couple PNP runs. Charlie

Cutoff here really varies. Usually it's $75 if you use a credit card. Some stations were putting a $100 "hold" on your money for 2-3 days meaning you couldn't use it until it was released. I haven't seen that happen in quite a while, though. I use a station offering a discount for cash. I'm pretty sure the credit card merchant agreements don't allow that but who's checking? There's a regional chain that uses a special debit card program to knock ten cents off per gallon but that chain doesn't sell diesel so it only helps with my gas jobs.
The area where I work is kind of funny. People will steal copper pipes out of homes, steal engines and transmission left behind the shop, steal a compressor out of the back of a truck parked at the store across the street. Yet we've had people leave cars unlocked on the street in front of the shop for days with paper money in the console and nothing was disturbed. I hate leaving my car overnight at work yet one of the guys happened to leave a portable tool box out back in a car and no one touched it over a three day weekend. |
