Dieseldiehard
I wouldn't ever accept a dime from another dieselhead for a lead on a car, that would be bad juju for certain. The 350 SD is owned by an Orthopedic Surgeon in Orlando, his Dad bought the car new and the miles are about 165k or less. He drives the car regularly. I have seen the car superficially and it looked really clean, sounded good and didn't smoke. He is taking the car tomorrow to Eurotech in Winter Park to be sold, it's a independent shop on Nicolet street that has done his service for many years. James McClain, my friend owns the shop and is a fishing buddy as is the surgeon. I'm going to take a good look at the car and will give you an honest appraisal, I'm driving my old 83 300SD right now and will probably adopt her back and pass on the 350. In any event, I will advise and I don't believe it ever had a reman. powerplant. I just called the Doc and he's not available, will get more info. I'd not hesitate to drive the car anywhere from what I have heard. |

If it's a one owner then you should be able to find out from Mercedes if it had
a factory rod head gasket campaign. If it has, buy it. You won't regret it. a "reman" may not be a sure thing. I bought a 1990 350 SDL from a 1 owner after a factory fix at 75,000 miles. 15 years later 180,000 runs like a dream.

Got a call back, engine never been touched, mileage about 168K
It was his Dad's, who didn't drive too much, he died at age 92 and his caregivers would drive him around in the car. He said never been wrecked, etc. Sounds like a good one! |
