Really? The w126 master key I got last year has an oval hollow in the plastic head. It's holding up well; never been on a key chain, ring, hook, etc.

At least for the 123 models, usually Axxess key blank 41 fits as master key. I have two. Also Mazda keys fit too.

My brother got 2 keys for his W123 and both of them fell apart quickly. Seems to be an issue with W123 keys as the W126 ones hold up fine and have a thicker material. The keys are different for a W126/W124/W201 though. W123 have a more old-school key.

the 123 and 126 keys might very well be the same, it's the useless plastic sleeve M-B is putting on the former that has to be avoided.

I have my original W123 in a vault, and I had a locksmith make up a bunch of solid metal copies

Thumbs down

In my area only one locksmith has the proper cutter for our keys, and they charge $30 per key even if I supply the blank!

The keys are not at all the same between W123 and W126.

My Gwagen key that I bought broke after about 3 months as well (Again cheap plastic head)

I've been meaning to send it out to WA to get the wooden head.
