The Behr model supposedly fits the 86 and 87 SDL and also the 90 and 91 350SD/SDL. I'm having a really hard time understanding why this part is just not available. I know that these cars weren't produced in great numbers, but come on...

Anyone know of a source? If not for a Behr (which is preferred), a quality aftermarket would work, I guess.
Did you find a radiator?

Go to brinsonco.com and look at 'new parts' where they show a 100% aluminum radiator very reasonably prices. I just installed one. No one id manufacturing radiators anymore for the models you mentioned. I'm keeping my old one as I just had it flushed and it's in pretty good shape. Want to keep my '91 350SDL a very long time.

Apparently I bought the world's last OEM Behr 300sdl radiator stocked anywhere, in June, 2013. It was pricey. Being old stock, within months it sprung a bad leak until drained nearly empty; luckily the engine didn't overheat too much when I noticed (ran the defroster and heater to max as I limped). However it is still in service several years later, just with the administration of a bottle of stop-leak. It really seems to be just fine for now, and I hope it continues many more years, before needing a custom made replacement radiator.

I purchased a wizard cooling unit for my 350SDL over the summer. The product is beautiful, full aluminum. However, the turn around time was very long (supplier issue, CS was great), and the part wasn't cheap. Around $900 IIRC.

Nissens is just as good as Behr. They're Danish, not German but haven't had a problem. I have them in both my w210s. Runs cool, no issues in summer.

Rock Auto has them for $200 or $180 I believe is the last price I paid for one a month ago.

SD VS SDL RADIATOR

I PUT A RADIATOR FROM A 300SD IN MY 300SDL A YEAR AGO WHILE I LOOK FOR AN SDL RADIATOR. CAR RUNS FINE AND DOES NOT NEED ANY MODIFICATIONS. TAKE COOLER OFF SIDE OF SD RADIATOR DROP IN CAR HOOK UP HOSES AND YOU ARE DONE. TEMP IS THE SAME AS WHEN I HAD THE SDL RADIATOR IN CAR

bit the bullet when I couldn't find a Behr (had replaced it four years ago) and got a local speed shop to replicate in aluminum. It ended up less than the Behr from dealer that they said for a month that it was coming, and then said no longer available. VERY satisified w/ radiator, temp stays alot more constant and no issues at all.
