240 shift boot availability
I am looking on Pelican Parts for a new shift boot for my 240, and it seems that the only boots they have available are made of unobtanium. I would rather have one made of rubber like the one that came from the factory. Can anybody help?....Rich

Just google the part number for it. 1232670097 You can get these in many places as they are the same that go in many other models.

I wonder why the part is not listed in the catalog under shift boot (for the 240)? I looked all over the online catalog and only found the aftermarket leather ones. Yes I found it by using the part number provided (1232670097). It still makes me wonder why that part number is not listed on the page with the other shift boots when "shift boot" is typed in the search box....Rich

I just found one on Amazon for $12 delivered. It is MTC brand, but I will try it and let everyone know if it is any good....Rich

The database of parts at PP is sometimes a little mixed up. I have the same problem finding parts as you on my 220D. I have sent PP emails about this, and they do fix the specific problem that I point out. But each time I am looking for parts, I find new errors. Hopefully one of the 5 new positions they are hiring will fix their parts database.

Genuine Mercedes from their restoration center. I paid less than $25 shipped to my door if I remember correctly. |

I ordered one from that AZ site about the time Pelican took over. The old original rubber boot had seen better days.
The replacement one is made out of some kind of stiff rubbery stuff, and there is no give to it, especially when cold. I referred to it as my Tupperware boot. I believe it was made in India. I found a Leather boot in PNP out of a 96 Saab 900. made a few modifications to the black plastic shifter plate, and it looks real nice. looks like it belongs there. Rollguy, you will see it when I come to the GTG. :) Charlie |

FYI: The MTC boot is very STIFF, and gets worse as the ambient temperature goes down, mine began (normal motion) cracking - tearing between 35° and 15° Fahrenheit. The current shifter boot is MB Star marked, my local dealer had it within 24 hours for $12.50 USD. :D As a note, there have been NO temperature related issues with this boot. :D . |
The ones I'm seeing when I look up that part number say they're for the manual version. Would it work for an automatic too? It would have to, right?
