Sorry to hear about it, I think I will cross them off the "preferred providers" list. Here's an idea that worked for a friend of mine when faced with substandard work. Make a rather large sign that will fit on either the side or rear of your car. Make it to say something like the following:

"SAFELITE SCREWED MY WINDSHIELD BAD - ASK ME HOW - GO TO WWW.SAFELITESUCKS.COM".

something like that, you get the idea.......this worked for a friend of mine who drove around a certain small town with a similar sign FOR about two years. Unfortunately, the service manager of the local Ford dealership didn't want to make good on a piss poor paint job so..........my friend kept the sign on the car.....it was not good PR for the local Ford guys......

Safelite did an excellent job a few years ago on my 81 but they wouldn't touch my 78 this year...called some Japanese outfit because I was in a rush....they did a horrible job!....chrome trim is suppose to go in prior to windshield install...they beat it in with a mallet after install.....I did the rear glass myself in my 81....was simple and looked great..

First, pull a BBB report on the business PRIOR to engaging them. Second, do not be afraid to ask for three references for the type of work you are anticipating having them do. Ask to see photographs of customer's cars they have performed this type of work on. If they are unwilling to supply references and/or photographs, MOVE ON TO THE NEXT REPAIR SHOP.

Another item of interest, I like to see mechanics in uniform. Unwashed torn blue jeans and T-shirts doesn't cut the mustard with me. Kept hair and shoes also makes a positive impression. If the mechanics look like they just came from the local homeless shelter, the shop doesn't get my business.

You would be surprised how many national franchise and local repair centers fail both the appearance test and the reference check test.

This era of car needs someone who is familiar with its install , before calling a company that does install on side of the road , call someone who commits tot he install and it’s experience required , I see a good DIY pictorial needing posting.
