123 Manual at Startek - Sticky?

Perhaps many here already know this, but MBUSA have the W123 shop manuals on-line on their Startek site. No need to sign up to use. Seems like it is a public service for a few models including 123, 107, 124 and 201.

This is link to W123 manual:

PS: If you get a message saying Plug-In missing, just click continue.

I have found those to be unreliable. After a bunch of clicks, I frequently am told "File not Found." Grrrr!

I think it is only unreliable during very heavy usage times. The W126 area has only given me trouble a couple of times. However, if I wait a couple of hours it has always straightened out. The great thing about the site is they are .pdf files and they can easily be stored on your computer, flash drive, etc... for access later. I've been saving the files as I search them and probably have at least a quarter of the manuals saved. I wonder what size of flash drive would be needed to hold the entire set?

Yes - I see what you mean for 123. The 107 links work fine.

The problem appears to be with my computer. I am using Firefox along with Foxit pdf reader. This combination gave the error. I then tried using Internet explorer still with Foxit. The pages opened fine.

I suspect that using Internet Explorer along with Adobe Reader may be best.

It is a java problem

It could be. But, I have same version of Java installed on IE 10 and on Firefox 20.0.1.

The Startek pdfs open fine using IE but will not open using Firefox.

The links in the first post also work perfectly using Chrome as browser.

I also have the original DVD, and it works fine with both Firefox and IE!

There is a note on Startek about this problem - If I recall correctly, it said to not have pdfs open within the browser, but rather in Adobe Reader. But I have not figured out how to do that - it may be a choice during Adobe installation?

For now, I would suggest just using IE and Adobe or Chrome which open pdfs super fast. At least, it works on my Win 7 64 bit laptop!

Well I have little patience for it now; most of the stuff I need to know is on the original German language CD or on WIS

I put your thread in the sticky list.

Okay, so I tried Chrome, Explorer, and Firefox, and none of them are working well for me. Sometimes a pdf is opened and other times I get "Document not found". So I don't think it is the browser, nor do I think it is the pdf viewer I am using.

Would someone who has been successful try to open this file:
Model 124 Service Library..... Disk 1.....300D Turbo 1987......Continue..... Maintenance Manual....Maintenance Manual Index.....0050 Inspecting Component Condition

This fails to open for me, but if you can get it to open, please let me know. As an aside, I don't actually need that info. It was just one of the many files I was testing the website on. Glad it is working for some of you.

I could not get the maintenance manual to open with any browser. But the 124 engine manual pdfs did open.

So obviously not trouble free. Some things work, some do not. Sometimes the browser makes a difference, sometimes not.
