OK, I bought a one tank WVO 82SD... ICK!

I got it to play with, and have a spare car to drive. (few of my fleet is roadworthy... ) I towed it home, and then fixed the broken oil filter bolt, and started it up... a tad grumpy to start after sitting for so long with no oil in it, but fire up it did. idle was off at first, but once it got fluids and temps, it seemed fine, so I put er in drive and pulled it out of it's space. seemed solid, so I told my brother to test it out. he left in a plume of white smoke, and was gone for about 10 minutes...

no smoke when he got back, and I asked his opinion of the car...

he said it was the best MB he's driven...
I disagree on that one, but it does seem to be nimble, and smooth.

the car has a LOT of warts I will need to address... the first will likely be the exhaust doughnuts... but very high on the list is the fuel tank...

I went to put in some diesel, and the cap was stuck... my 6'8" brother took a whack at it, and failed... I then got BOTH my hands on the cap, and twisted with all my might, and got it free... EEEEWWWWWWW!!! NASTY!!!
I'm glad there is such a HUGE primary filter installed on this motor!!! I can't imagine this stuff flowing through the injectors or IP... I tossed in a full bottle of Diesel Clear and 5 gallons of D2 and drove it around...
not a bad car otherwise. zero rust found on my thorough search. all the paint is covered with vinyl tape and pinstripes... flames on the rear deck... all the wood trim is covered with blue carbon fiber tape... all the carpet is covered with black plastic tread cover for hallways... the PO is a dog trainer, and it was his way of keeping the carpet clean I suppose...

aaannyway...
pics will be added soon...

Flames on the rear deck? I can hardly wait.

You may have lucked out on it. If he didn't run single tank VO (I assume without heat, you haven't mentioned any) for very long, it may not have had much effect.

there is a large heat exchanger/filter head with a glow plug in it, and heater hoses plumbed to it... that's all I see...

the guy showed me his filtration setup... pour cubies through pantyhose into a bucket, pour bucket into barrell with fittings welded to it for transfer into his centrifugal unit... then a pump to pull it off the top into his car...

that's all I saw for the oil treatment...

the primary filter is gone, and in it's place is the heat exchanger with a MASSIVE GIGANTIC filter on it... it's bigger than the powerstroke oil filters... I will get numbers off the filter and find out the specs on it... but I'm going to at a minimum install a two tank valve to this setup...

Centrifuges are about the best way to clean and dewater the oil. Maybe his oil was good. Post a photo of that beauty. I need some flames on my ride!

Now John,
You are setting a bad example here!
Best relocate this thread to the alt fuels sub forum !!
All the heating may have saved it.
Dont like the sound of the filler cap. That maybe what everything through the motor is like.
I have an old John Deer engine (404ci ~ mid 1960's) that has sat a long time. It has only had diesel in it but the fuel system is all varnished up. PITA to clean out.
Dont know if biodiesel would work to clean yours out.

I thought on starting this in although fuels but decided on keeping it here because I'm going to reverse convert it. If I 2 tank it ill move to the af forum.

it looks like ill be swapping the filter can over. An ear popped off... fun... BOTH filter cover studs were stripped, but one had a bolt in it's place. it looks like damage was done to the ear when it was previously repaired, or maybe when the stud came out... either way I've gotta fix it.
I cleaned it up, and may slather some JB on there, and build a new ear... or just pull the entire filter assembly, and put on a spare... the oil cooler lines are brand new, so it should be a simple swap to change the canister.

He was obviously getting his WVO from a chinese place. The exhaust smelled just like fried wontons. It was making me hungry.

I hope you can de-ghetto that poor car. I would try leaving it in the direct sun for a while and then try pulling up a corner of the vinyl covering. If it starts coming off you might be able to warm it with a heat gun and remove it.

Were the old 126s of that era enamel or clear coat? If it was enamel you might be able to save the finish assuming you can get the vinyl and then the adhesive residue off. If the car was clear coat it is probably shot so that is why they put on the vinyl.

Kind of like those HGTV shows where they find an old house that is a total trash dump but the hardwood floors are pristine under the nastiest carpet you have ever seen.

the vinyl comes off easily. adhesive feels like postit glue... the car originally had color and clear... and it's pretty bad on top... the deck has plenty of scrapes on it... likely dog scratches. overall the paint looks great.

http://www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/filterlookup.aspx If you plug the number you have into the interchange it will give you the WIX version of that Filter and if you click on that the Filter specs will show. There will likely be a Nominal Micron or Beta for the filtration rating.
Sometimes both or nothing.
