now, the car has absolutely zero rust on her anyplace... runs like a scalded dog, shifts perfectly and everything but the air and the odometer work. the speedo is off by 5mph at all speeds... odd... but it's not the original speedo because this one goes up to 120mph... and the a/c compressor spins, but does not pump freon... so the crank is broken or all the valves are shot... either way, it needs a compressor, and a good cleaning.
aside from the gunk in the tank, and the graphic treatments, I could find no reason not to get this car...

$650 took it home.

oh, and notice the first pic with my truck in the background? that load of 6 6" x 20 ish feet I-beams set me back another $150 from the same guy!

Seriously, look at the top of the fuel filter, they used white silicone in place of the proper crush washer.

I didn't notice the screws run in everywhere. It would be a miracle if no lines or wires were punctured with one of those screws.

Yuck.
nope, that's an original aluminum crush washer... covered with vegoil... likely the o-rings are shot inside.

Zero rust. Man, that just dont happen with 210s, with their oddly curled up front fenders. Oh, that gas tank. I might be tempted to drop the whole affair and hot tank it out.

Nice score however!

And BTW, two tanks> they ought be 55 gallon drums with cone bottoms welded on, in your garage, and rigged to BREW WINGAS. Much safer than WVO imho.

Bio does a great job of cleaning up the carbon deposits in the chambers.

OK, started working on this again tonight... pulled out an SD oil canister, and started cleaning it up... got the gasket surface all clean, and started cleaning off all oil and gunk from the outside in my parts washer... broke one of the little plastic ears off the large diaphram thingie... no problem, I'll just pull one off one of the three engines sitting in my shop... no, one is already gone... go to the next one... broke one of the filter lid studs off... grrrr.... this is getting complicated.

just thought I'd bump and vent a bit.
wish me luck tomorrow getting new studs and such for the car.

I have been running veg for years, and have never seen a fuel filler and cap that bad. Do yourself a favor, and just replace the tank. You will find that running a lot of D2 will clean out some of the old veg goo, and clog your filters. I bet the tank weighs more than a clean tank (both empty) with all that built up gunk in it.

Sold...
for the price of labor installing the oil filter can I had sitting on the bench using my tools.
My brother needed a car for his wife to drive while hers is in the shop. so, I said, change the oil canister, and it's yours.
he did...
she cooked me dinner.
she LOVES the car. quirks and all. (I'm sure that will change after a few weeks of driving it, but we'll see.)

she's a housekeeper, so she's fine with the "cleaner" look...

she brought it by tonight, seems she rolled the drivers' window down, and it wouldn't go back up...
so I got out a battery, and hot wired it up. she likely popped a fuse...
I also swapped the gauge cluster, as the odo was not working... put in one from my old 82...
the plus side is, the dash lights now work!

If she left with a smile on her face, she is a keeper.
