Jooseppi Luna: Go ahead and send it, if you please. At the very least, I'll have a spare (I keep damn near a whole car's worth of spare parts in my trunk.)

tbomachines: Thanks for the reassurance. The B2 band replacement sounds intense, but if it must be done, it must be done. Oh, and MB recommends wiping your transmission dip with your fingers, then wiping your fingers on leather. Or so I've heard

The piston is pretty easy to replace, and that's what the majority of B2 problems are caused by. The band is much more expensive and a lot more difficult. In Jooseppi's particular car, the B2 band is broken, which is among the first I've seen (he has my old car). In your case, its worth taking a look at the piston since its most likely the case -- takes only a few minutes to pop out.

Well, Thanks jooseppi for the part, it looks great!

Now the problem I'm having is getting to the old B2 piston. I'm at the step where you remove the circlip to take the cover off, and I've got nada. I've pressed the cover in, and inserted a screwdriver per the instructions, but I'm getting no removal of the circlip.

The cover does try to go cockeyed in the hole, but the circlip is still in there so it's not coming out.

If anyone has asy suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
