Parts site

I assume you are talking about EPC over on www.startekinfo.com <= don't get confused between the free EPC and the expensive WIS

Or the "Russian" one on EverythingBenz - Mercedes-Benz Forum and Web Search Using Google

If you have a single specific question that really needs to be answered please start a new thread for it and if I think I can help I'll dive on in there and contribute.
Thank you so very much!

Well, neither... Say I have a part number. I can put it in and generate a name. Though, the Everything Benz looks very useful!

I was thinking these were simple, silly questions, so why have multiple threads? Fun having Autism... So, followed your advice and now all broken apart. Maybe I will get help from others besides SD Blue, who has gotten me a ways thus far.

Well this site might help for most things - click on "Mercedes" above and then on the left had side of the screen you've got an "Enter description or part number" box

Alternatively I find google helps quite a bit - just bang the part number straight in there - sometimes with the spaces between the numbers

for example 123 570 62 45

or not

1235706245

(This is a made up number I don't know what it is)

Well, I was looking for a catalog... I was considering that there is 300,000 miles on the springs, so might be good to EVENTUALLY replace. If one has a part number for stiffer spring, can be ordered. Went a tad stiffer/higher on the Squareback and loved it. Just enough to clear the pot holes and mounds with a load. Just thinking, not doing!

We're now going into the realms of the specific rather than just a general thing.

EPC / Russian EPC shows you pictures of every part on the car that was fitted by Mercedes.

The FSM often contains information describing what was fitted to individual models. You can for example read through a chapter that tells you which springs were fitted to which W123s but it probably won't help because most of the springs are no longer available. (My nice progressives aren't) So this is where you need to start to be more inventive. A definitive guide for all parts that will fit doesn't really exist. The next best thing is to ask a direct question on the forum.

There are after market companies that provide lowering springs. And you might come across other customising (pretend AMG usually) stuff on ebay...

...other than that the Pelican parts catalogue isn't too too bad a place to start looking.

3 Ever since I have owned the Mercedes I have been plagued with the engine dampeners not staying tight. There is no built in place to hold them so as the nut can be fully tightened. Are there dampeners still available that have this? Or, is the engine shutting off too hard? Mounts look fine, and I.I.R.C. were replaced at some point. I am just tired of hearing the engine shifting in the engine compartment while driving and clunking on shut down!

4 Any reason why a window switch would mostly cure itself? Used to not work unless you poked it over and over. Now most times just push and the window goes up (down isn't an issue). If it doesn't, a few clicks gets it working.
1. The washer for the oil pan is a 12x16x1.5 mm. Should have been in the filter box. Other washers may be a different size, what in particular?

2. Lock washers where on the car?

3. The engine shouldn't shift when driven. You may have mounts that look good, but aren't. Here's a test: have a helper behind the wheel, start the car, parking brake on and foot firmly on the brake pedal. Hood open so you can observe. Have helper also rev the engine, does it want to jump out of the engine bay? If so, you have a bad mount or two.
The dampers only come into play with engine shut down, as I understand it.
File too large for here on the mounts, PM me if interested.

4. As mentioned, the innards may have issues, maybe something as simple a just being dirty.

This thread comes back from the dead! Thank you so very much for sifting through the whole mess!

Well, on the Volkswagen there is, and when putting on the hitch with its lock washers, just came to mind is all. Will cross it off.

All that was in the box was the rubber seals. Apparently that was the same for Tram, as the bolt required a breaker bar to get the plug loose! Since the rubber seals were still soft I just left them. They seal just fine.

I can see the engine fine from the cabin, so will do that later and report back. In drive, right? Have to go on errand in less than an hour.

Well, that is merely a list of what I have based on these car's needs, mostly.

I don't mind spending a few bucks on these things.

Ja, das ist was ich dachte!

Will look for a quality mounts that are inexpensive. Don't have the time to mold my own, unless someone already has a set.
