Will this Denso compressor fit? It is different...

The store wants a restocking fee since it states that it fits my car..The denso site also confirms that its a part match for the 300.

It is a Denso 471-0232

But the problem is that its wrong under the manifold.

THIS is what it looks like:

THIS is what the ORIGINAL one that was on the car looks like underneath:

Is there something I am missing here?? Is there a different manifold or any idea why its different? Would it even work?

It will fit. But the manifold for the AC line is different.

I damaged the manifold on my 87. And getting a replacement one proved difficult. So I ended up getting an entire compressor from eBay. Manifold and all. From a 1993 2.5t

Long story short. Compressor fits. Suction line fits. Manifold did not. I had a brand new compressor, so I did not want to use the eBay one. But I had to.

The manifold connection on the first one is what my 91 350SDL uses. Do the lines connect to the manifold on your car with a plate w/ a single bolt in the middle?

The manifold part number is A0001311943, with a fill port A1158320085 and cap A2019880635. The gasket between the manifold and compressor is A0009978149 and the lines to the manifold are A0002300056.

I checked in impex and the manifold is over $400  Hopefully someone has a used one... they are used on many 6 cylinder MBs from the early 90s, gas and diesel.

A used compressor is a good idea, something like this is cheap enough: 90 98 Mercedes 2 5L 3 4L 6 0L A C Compressor | eBay

Correct. The manifold mounts to a plate with a single allen bolt in the middle.

So did the 10pa15 compressors have a cutoff with the top part of the compressor whatever its called? Did some get the 4 hole and some with the open chamber?

BrianCostello 06-20-2013 07:36 AM

You can get the a new 4 hole compressor. The part store sold you the wrong one. I have one sitting in the barn if you are interested.

ps2cho 06-20-2013 10:48 AM

So does Denso sell one then? They have no other part numbers for an 88 300TE.

BrianCostello 06-20-2013 12:14 PM

Look up an 87 300d. That's the part you want.

ps2cho 06-20-2013 01:55 PM

They show the same part # for an 87 300d too...

BrianCostello 06-20-2013 09:03 PM

Denso 471-0232

That's the big tag on the back.

Small tag where the original part # would be
1op15c. 9714739 718

Replacing OE part # 003 131 70 01

( I just saw that the Denso part #'s are the same) there must be a cut off. If you need a vin I'll post mine.
