W126 Drivers door lock stuck
Hello everybody,
I am trying to remove the exterior handle on the drivers door from my w126 (300sd) in order to check on why the lock wont move left or right when i put the key in. I've unscrewed the phillips head in the door jam. I've read that the next step is to turn the key in the lock to remove it, however, of course this will not work because that is the problem with the lock. What other routes can I take to remove it? |

I've never done this task before but here is the info from the FSM: http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/12253/program/Chassis/72-240.pdf
It mentions unscrewing door lock fastening screws and disconnecting the pull rod to the inside door handle (probably a lesson in patience, inside the confined spaces of the door).

I am struggling with removing the drivers door handle as well.
I cannot turn the key to release the rod that connects the handle to the latch. The key works fine in all the other locks. |

The lock has a problem and no amount of oiling, massaging… will fix it.
It has to come out but until it turns it’s near impossible. I will see if I can remove the latch and rotate it inside the door. That’s the only way I can see it releasing. |

I swear I’ve seen a video where the guy rotates the handle since he doesn’t have the key or it won’t turn. I think you have to remove both screws completely then figure out which direction the handle is willing to rotate. It needs to go 90 degrees to let go if the latch.
