A while back, I was standing around the shop where I used to work, talking with a few of the guys, when a small bird flew down onto the bumper of a new Bentley and began harvesting bugs out of the grille. I remarked that the bird was very smart, pointing out his ability to find a free lunch in today's economy.

One of the younger guys remarked, "If that bird's so smart, let's see him pop the hood and work on the engine."

After the chuckles subsided, I told the young man that the very fact the bird doesn't raise the hood is an indication of his advanced level of intelligence.

When asked to explain, I replied, "I have learned in 20+ years of working on cars that there are only two people in the automotive industry that make any real money; The owner of the dealership and the tool man."

So the next time you see a bird eating bugs out of the grille, you may see him differently....
