Now an 84 240D, that would be something to see. 83 was the last year for the 240D in US, I think it went one more year as a Euro.

I was able to get a photo of the two lines I was speaking of earlier...sorry for the quality.

The bottom fuel line, which I believe is the feed fuel line is currently attached to an inline fuel filter and that line is connected to the banjo connection on the earlier photo (spin on filter), next to the red dipstick.

Is that the correct setup so far?

If so, what next. The previous posts from members are very detailed, but a dummy like me needs photos sometimes because I am not too familiar with the name of the various parts related to the fuel system.

Thanks again,

Dwayne

Hey Junker,

I'm in Brewster, not too far from you. Although I didn't have a greasecar system in the 300d I had one in a TDI Passat.
Never really ran it and removed it last year. Actually have the system if anyone is interested.
I have the special wrenches for valve adjustment and would be happy to help out and share what I know with a fellow diesel enthuasist.
The 300D was a Father son project. We did a sand down and paint job. Unfortaunately I sold it for needed funds when he went off to college. Don't think he forgave me yet.

Just want to confirm if this is the correct routing.

When looking at the photo of the spin on filter...

Does the intake/delivery fuel line attach to the banjo fitting on the right side?
Does the top banjo fitting go to the return line?
Lastly, does the banjo fitting on the bottom of the filter go to the IP?
Not the bolt that is clearly seen in the photo, but there is a banjo fitting on the very bottom of the filter

Thanks in advance,

Dwayne

So the top banjo bolt line is the fuel return line....this goes back to the tank....

The second banjo bolt goes to the lift pump on the side of the injection pump....then your fuel feed line runs to the lift pump...

I have a greasecar system in my 1980 240D - and I have the manual and such - I may be late to the party at this point, but I'm willing to share if it's still needed.

Also, the banjo bolt on top of the fuel filter on my car was replaced by a solid bolt in the greasecar kit - might keep an eye out for that :-)
I doubt your car will run correctly if you remove the entire kit but leave the bolt in...

Chris
