Eh, I would have left them, too, if there was no rust present, or damage to repair. They are a pain to remove, and even harder to reinstall without scratching fresh paint, but easy to mask. The bottom trim, on the other hand, is faster to pop off than to mask properly. No color change to deal with makes it more acceptable, too. (poor me, I have to pull mine when I paint, and I am not looking forward to it.)

That's a pretty good paint match, from the look of things. The roof looks great, too!

Don't worry, I am in the middle of a headliner replacement, and having stared hard at these with and without sunroofs, I am certain a non-sunroof headliner will fit right in there. I am not certain if the bows are the same, however.

This $520 maaco paint job looks pretty good eh? lol I have about another $1000 in body work though and thats after I stripped it to metal.
I was quoted about 300 bucks to do a headliner in mine freehand by a local shop here. Just hanging new fabric that looks kinda original in the right colors assuming the sunroof was gone.

Maybe you could shop around upholstery shops and see whats quoted, might not be that bad just to hang a new one and have the shop make the supports and such

I have about $30 in micro suede and proper upholstery thread tied up in mine. I know the suede isn't exactly original, but I it has better sound insulating properties, it was the right colour, and best of all, it was on sale!

Granted, some (all) assembly is required.

yes I left the top and sides of the window chrome on the car but removed every other part of trim. It was such an ordeal and now I am in the process of putting it back together which is fun to see it come together but it is so much work lol

You should post of picture of your headliner! I want to do mine in the original white dotted cloth that my 78 came with

I'll post the headliner stuff up when I actually get it done. The girlfriend offered to sew it together about nine months ago, and I pulled it out six months ago. She did get it together once, but somehow didn't measure the bow spacing correctly, and we had to rip all the stitches out to start over. She has a steadier hand when it comes to laying long straight stitches on the sewing machine, or I'd have tackled it myself by now. This time around, however, I will do the measuring!
