OM603 Compression Test - correct equipment
I finally got my 1987 300TD towed to my house.
This car is new to me and Dead on Arrival. I had posted some information in an earlier thread: 1987 300TD Turbo - losing power won't turn over My question now is about compression testing. I need to get a compression tester and I want to know what exactly I should get. Ideally I want something that gives reasonable results, but it does not need to be the most expensive out there. I understand the need to buy the correct tools, but I do not want to spend 100's on this since it will only be used occasionally. Will this one do? 12 Piece Diesel Engine Compression Tester Ideally if there were someone in the Seattle/Tacoma area that had one I could borrow or rent I would be super happy. Also - this is my first Diesel. I currently have a Gas 1990 W124 Wagon. Do I remove the glow plugs in order to use the compression tester? Or, is it somewhere else that I test at? Thanks in advance for any help. I will post pictures in my other thread showing what I have found. |
