Rear LCA Inner Bushings Replacement

Greetings all,

I would like to replace the inner LCA bushings on my 95 300d.

Already have the inner and outer bushings, and also new springs. Can you direct me to some info about the inner replacement process?

Thanks

Wdiesel

I did this on my 84 300D. You need a good spring compressor. I used a cheap one that bolts on the outside of the spring, which was a little squirrelly, so backed up with a chain. One that installs inside the spring is better (have one now). The bushing itself just pulls out by hand, unlike my Mopars that require taking the control arms to a press. I don't know if 95 300D's are similar.

Thanks Bill,

If they just pull out by hand that would be great!

I have access to a spring compressor - as I'll be swapping the stock springs for H&Rs.

I'm all ears to other suggestions, or any other experiences and I'll keep this thread posted with any more info I find.

No need for a spring compressor. Be ready for rust.

I just did the outer on a 210 the other day, and no need to remove the spring. I did need to completely remove the knuckle, as the lower bushing is pressed into it. I don't believe that the 124 chassis is much different (bushing replacement procedure). However, the inners do require the spring to be removed so the LCA can be removed. A hydraulic press is needed to remove the old bushing, and press in the new one (wish I had gotten photos to post). I have a ball joint press ("C" clamp type) that has a bunch of different size tubes, but I just find a socket that fits just right to press the new bushing in....Rich

I did mine with a C clamp and large socket (30mm?)

thanks all, I'm going to get it done today.

Yesterday I tackled my sagging headliner, with guidance from babymog's post
W124 Headliner Replacement Photos

Well worth the time and effort.

Hey Rollguy- no photos yet, thoug I did bring a long a gpro timelapse and camera. I got some footage ill need to convert and upload.

I went to a shade tree who said he could get the bushings done, but no avail. Just got the rear springs on because he did not have the proper tools. Quite frustrating. With the rear springs in the car handles much better.
