Nut won't loosen to change Alternator belt on 1977 300D

I'm trying to change the alternator belt for a 77 300D and can't get the nut to loosen. I tried penetrating oil, but no luck. I heard that heating a nut with a blowtorch can make it easier to loosen, but I'm worried that that might mess some stuff up with the alternator or other parts of the car. Do you guys think that would be safe to try? Any other suggestions?

I believe there is three bolts holding on the alternator. You have to loosen the two bolts that hold the alternator to the block, then loosen the bolt with the gear, this is the tension bolt....this is the bolt you use to tighten or loosen the alternator to tighten or removal the belt...you have to remove the ac belt and power steering belt first before you remove the alternator belt.

Heres a picture, you can see the bolts that need to be loosened 200, 230, 155....tell us which one you are having issues with

Long handle 6 point box end wrench. Hold bolt and turn nut.

Yeah, the bolt labeled 155 is the one I'm trying to loosen that won't budge, that is the proper one, right?

155 that one is a bear sometimes... it sits in a steel tube that collects salt and water and can corrode badly...

best thing to try is SOAKING the alternator base in PB Blaster or AeroKroil for a day and whacking the alternator base with a mallet every so often...

then, get a HONKING big 6 point socket on a 1/2" breaker bar, and POP against the wrench...

230 technically doesn't need to be loosened... but the same treatment should be used for it as well...
hold the nut on the other end, perhaps even try loosening the nut instead of the bolt...

Harbor freight has a nice long breaker bar/hinge handle that's got a ratcheting end... but it's junk after one use. SUPER handy while it works though.
