Windscreen and door seals - factory or after market?

Hello
Doing Some minor resto work replacing the screen and some rust work on the front doors and the original seals are pretty shabby. Is it better to use the factory seals which are at least double the price of say equivalent products offered by Meyle? What have other forum members experienced in this area?
Thanks on advance
David

I've read about or experienced problems with either choice. Mostly fit issues with the aftermarket seals. So twice I've used the OE seals from Mercedes. Those fit perfectly. But I believe the ones I got had been sitting on the shelf far too long as they deteriorated repidly once exposed to weather and sunlight!

Happy Motoring, Mark

I replaced the front door seals on the 85 with a set I picked off E-bay a few years ago. the originals did have some wind noise, were pretty well cracked from age but did not leak water.

However, when I installed the new after mkt ones, it took a little more force to close the doors. better sealing and nice new rubber and didn`t notice the wind noise. when I ran it through a car wash, and water poured in all along the top of both doors.

Even when I wash the car at home using a hose to rinse off, there is some water that will run down the inside of the glass.

The next seals will be from the Dealer. It`s only money......right???

Welcome to the Forum.

I went with OE front windshield seal and OE door seals, and only had to do the job once. Been great since! No leaks, and noise was significantly reduced.

Like Charlie said it's only money right?

Welcome aboard!
