What's a resonable price for an '87 190DT?

What's a reasonable price to ask for an '87 190D with the 2.5 turbo?

The good;
-currently has 114K.
-The automatic has been converted to a 5-speed manual from a 190E.
-new michelins, shocks, and flex disks 4K back
-new aftermarket sterio.
-Other than the typical couple of minor dash cracks, interior in good.
-no rust anywhere.
The bad;
-cruise has not worked since the manual tranny change. Haven't figured out what's preventing it, most likely something with the wiring.
-a/c works via the defrost function but something's amiss with the climate control where it doesn't blow out the center vent when on a/c?
- PO put a cheap paint job and a different hood was swapped on. Appears there was a minor front end collision that damaged the hood but both inner and outer fenders on both sides are original and undamaged.

I know the 190DT's are pretty rare since they only were imported in '87 and it already having the 5-speed swapped in has to be a plus. This one is really solid but it does have some minor issues to resolve. I really don't have a clue to the market value though. Any opinions are appreciated.

Why are you trying to appraise his vehicle? If they are selling it, there must be a price....I rarely see a for sale sign with a ? mark for the price....let us know the price, and then we can say if its worth it or not....pictures also help...

Well I was attempting to help....spending many years in the resale business....the one thing you always do is request that the seller give you a price....if it's cheap buy it....if the price is ridiculous...run away....if the buyer wants a crazy sum for something, there is no way any offer below their price will take it....

Ever hear of that saying, its only worth what someone is willing to spend? Well what do you want to spend?

Asking a what its worth question is pretty much asking for a free appraisal....one we have no photos of the car in question, no information on services....and we have no ides of comparable in your area...

To me of sounds like a parts car...anything over 600$ is to much....

Tough to say without pics. I would disregard the mileage claim unless it's supported by some documentation. The fact that it's a turbo 190 with a five speed is very appealing to me. Without seeing it I'll put it in the range of $2000-$5000.

it sounds like the OP IS the seller, and he's trying to come up with a reasonable price to ask for the car...

Check kbb.com, but my guess... $1,500-$2,000

It's an old car, but gets great fuel mileage. Expect a/c problems.

Obvously you don't know the value of 190's. The 5-speed conversion is worth more than $600.

There is documentation to validate the mileage. There are no dents or rust. The pictures don't really reflect the paint which looks good from 20' but is as I said before - a cheap poor paint job. No flaws in the interior except the normal 2 cracks that are in almost all pre '89 190's.

I know the seller. If a transaction were to happen, we would both want to do it at a fair rate. I wouldn't buy it if I thought he was asking too little - I would insist on paying more. Obviously some folks wouldn't understand this logic, but I'm still not clear as how this influences a fair market price?

You must be the first one on planet Earth who would like to pay more then the asking price. Say the car is worth $2K and you CLAIM the conversion is worth $600 so in effect the car is worth $2.6K. You need to pay him $2.6K+ based on your own assumption? I think Cooljjay is very helpful but was unappreciated

I saw Rick Harrison pay more than the asking price once on the show about the pawn shop.

Craigslist asking price on the car in question would be around $3500 to $5000 in my area. I would expect the actual selling price to be a bit lower. I would consider three to four to be a fair price to both buyer and seller. Lack of fully functional AC is less of a big deal here than in TN, however.
