I don't think the car wants to change owners after all these years. One license plate bolt took an impact driver to remove....another bolt head came off before the threads would move!

That is unfortunately a common problem. The MB license plate holder takes metric threaded screws. When someone in the US tries to substitute American thread screws that almost thread in right, they seize up.

Although you would think that the MB dealer (where PO bought the car) would have used metric screws.
