Seats for my car 1978 300D

The driver's seat in my car is getting pretty bad, I think it's past the point where any more McGuyvering is worth it. My dad has welded stuff to it, we've restuffed it a few times, it may be time to let it go.

What range of years/models would fit in my car? My mechanic has a W124 300D 2.5 turbo he's gutted for engine stuff, would those seats fit in my car?

How are your fabrication skills. Lot of possibilities with somekind of adaptor that makes it fit.

i have 3 sets of 78 123 seats...

aieeegrunt 08-03-2013 10:42 AM

Would you be willing to part with any?

location, location, location

What color do you need and where are you located? I've got a very nice set of blue ones for sale in the Used Parts forum. Here's the link to the ad:

I'd really like to get these out of my garage. It's time for me to have a garage sale.

vstech 08-03-2013 11:42 AM

Yup. I've got LOTS of stuff for sale. where are you located?

JB3 in Rhode Island is giving away a bunch of seats -- they're in the Used Parts subforum.

Get a seat bottom spring box out of a W126 second gen ( 86 - 91), preferably from the pass side, doesn`t get as much use. swap the seat tracks and install your fabric etc... will have good up graded springs and the rubber pieces in the corner coil springs.

Done it to 2 cars.

The pass side of the 123 will also swap over after swapping the seat tracks, and there is a hole in the seat frame back for the Arm rest, just have to cut the hole in the MB Tex. remove the back cover to see where the hole is.

Dosn`t make since to use another drivers seat that has been butt pounded for years and miles. :D

Seems like there was a thread or I was talking to someone recently, that they used 124 seats in a 123. what about the W201, (190E/D) or are they too narrow?

From seeing W201 seats, I am willing to bet that they are too narrow.

No need to replace the whole seat.....new foam seat pads can be found at any pick n pull...any year w123 pad will work....if you need new springs, same thing.....if your seat upholstery is bad....only years that have that style upholstery is 1976-1979....anything past those years won't match...

If anyone has a good black bottom seat skin, let me know...

Thanks guys. I am located in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. My dad is a snowbird with a truck and he's indicated he'd be willing to incorporate a pickup into one of his trips

I am across the river from Ottawa. What colour do you need? I have a set of early w123 front seats in dark blue leather, very nice condition. Sorry no frames tho (just the spring box/cushion/cover part).

Forum member Clacker has a pile of stuff for sale, w126 and w123 and he is located outside Ottawa on the Ontario side of the river.
