Trunk Leaks. The easy fix

On the bad side one must corner slowly or the cans tip over.
On the plus side because these are one gallon cans they only have to be emptied once a year. Anyone got a better idea?
Not to be taken seriously.

Replace the rear window gasket, fix any rust under it, also replace trunk gasket. Problem solved.

Yeah buy a new windscreen as gasket and fix it....mine leaks because I can't afford the gasket at the moment....otherwise I would have it done and leak free...

I used weatherstripping from home depot to seal mine, but one of my trunk hinges is slightly bent, not a failed seal.

You mentioned cans to catch the drips. I have a 1 liter soda bottle under the antenna to catch the drips. cut the bottom off, slit it up one side. slipped it up from the bottom of the antenna motor, the slit goes around the flat strap to the fender. then it is Zip tied to the motor. the drips go into the bottle instead of the quarter panel. after each rain storm, place a can under the cap, unscrew, and drain it.

The 80 240 came with a manual antenna, mine got broken off, and can`t source another one. finally found an electric Chinese one in PNP just so the radio works. eventually I`ll find the proper one for it.

The only manual one`s I have seen for the 240 are made by the Chicom`s, and aren`t even close to the original.

In reality I have no trunk leaks. I placed two cans in the trunk to drop off at the recycle and got the idea for the picture. Just a little humor.
I like the pop bottle idea for the antenna though.

I actually used the "pop bottle" concept for a couple of months until I got tired of it and just bought a factory seal from the dealership and had the professional glass guy come out and help me put it in. They were great in that I was able to wire-brush and treat all the light rust under the seal, as well as fix the headliner that was not seated properly.

Works great, no leaks and everything is cool.

Fun photo, though.

How much? and in good shape? Iam interested.

When we got the 240, the antenna would not go down after soaking it with kroil for quite a long time. guess it was too corroded down in side.

Put a big rock in each bucket to help with cornering and winter traction

Put Velcro on the bottom of the buckets.
