1979 W123 owners I need help
Hey guys I need a picture of the ignition switch from a 1979 W123. Any model should do.
I'm trying to determine if the 79 model had the larger or smaller tumbler. |

I went to an Auto Part seller to compare parts and for the1979 Gasser (on You list of Vehicles) on the Ignition Lock Tumbler they had this note:Ignition Lock & Tumbler; With Keys For models with chassis serial number from 052426.
So apparently there was more than one Tumbler for that Year; but that is a guess.

My '79 looks like the top picture and cooljays.
Edit: Ooops got it backwards. My 79 is the smaller one and my '80 is bigger.

I believe it was because '79 cars were the "transition" models, ie, models split between the old style 123 and the new style 123. My '79 240D is like the bottom picture, while my girlfriend's '79 240D is the top.

Im getting that feeling too. I looked through some pictures on Mercedes Motoring and fleabay and saw both styles on 79 models. Im tired of fumbling with two keys and I have decided to keep the car for a while so might as well make it more livable. I guess I will just give the dealer the vin and see what shows up.
