Hydraulic lifters 190d

When I first start my 190d the lifters are noisy at idle only, they smooth out when warm. Does it hurt anything to run it like is?

Nope. Switch to synthetic diesel engine oil if you haven't already.

Thanks. I'm planning on switching to Mobil1 next oil change to see if that helps. I've always used Rotella 15w40 or Delo 400 in my diesel trucks. The old Ford IDI's, at least mine drink alot of Rotella so I run Delo 400 in them. I have Delo in the 190d right now.

Both of those are very good diesel oils and I have used them in the past. The 5w40 synthetic versions Rotella and Delvac1 (aka Mobil1) reduced lifter noise considerably on my car. The change was gradual, it took a couple of thousand miles but well worth it.
