W124 climate control circuit boards
1 Attachment(s)
Hello, is anyone familiar with the makeup of a w124 climate control box? The "off" button on mine is slipping so I pulled the assembly to try and finger it out, only to find I couldn't get at the switches themselves. Everything was blocked by a large circuit board (attached picture).
Surely there is another way to get at all the electrical goodies beneath? I couldn't find any other obvious access points to the hard plastic "box" and the circuit board itself seemed steadfastly attached. Unfortunately the car is my dd so I couldn't spend too much time looking. Thanks! |
Its not hard but its also not fun.
You've gotta gently pop out all the buttons and remove the front plastic plate. Then you'll be able to get to the circuit board. I think I've got pics on my site here: https://sites.google.com/site/mbcruisecontrolrepair/home/part-pictures/climate-control-units Oops, sorry I dont BUT some of the pics on there will be helpful! Look at the second gen 126 stuff. Im uploading the 124 pics right now so I'll probably post a link tomorrow. |
Just 2 days ago, my mechanic had mine out
I wish now I would have paid more attention to how he got to the wires, but I think just unscrew the top circuit board. Underneath that are all the switch wires hooked up to their respective place. He had a multi-meter and tested my switches, the meter confirmed the switches were fine, and that the problem was (once again) my blower regulator.
