Working on the car now -- how do I let out the parking brake without starting the car

I have the '84 W123 300D up on jacks and I just realized that I want to disconnect the parking brake without starting the car (car can't be started). How do I do that? Do I just clip the cable in the footwell? This is a parts car, so I don't care what happens to it... I'm thinking of flipping it onto its side to get the differential/driveshaft out, so it can be damaged .

I'm confused... what about the parking brake requires starting the car?

Just pull the release handle in the car.

Or are you talking about getting the transmission out of Park? The W123 doesn't lock the trans into park with the ignition off, you can just shift normally with the key off.

I seemed to remember that one had to tart the car to let out the parking brake. Am I wrong on this?

Not to jump in, but are you cutting donor metal off this car and have the tools to do so?
If so, let me know if the front passenger floorboard is good up front and under the seat, from underneath.

You mentioned flipping the car, so I had to ask

Note: you may need that parking brake as the last means to stop/park a parts car with no trans and no brake boaster (removed). Don't cut cable unless have to

It may be. We'll see... there is some rust right at the edge of the backseat, but I don't know about under the seat. Does daw_two have anything in his 240D?
