Last one. This one's been laying in the glovebox for a year and has a curl that is quite springy when pressed flat. I hope the RTV will hold it down.

The masking tape is to protect the finish as well as provide a non slip surface for the rods, which would slip off w/o it.

All done and came out well. Time will tell if it holds up.

2.5 years later, how has that RTV held up as a wood trim adhesive? Seems as if others have had the best success with PL Premium construction adhesive.

removing the glovebox latch

You need a large set of end nippers and a hair dryer. Take the inside cover off the glove box door to expose the inside of the latch. You'll see the feet of the latch that need to be squeezed toward the center to release the latch itself. They oppose each other, hence the end nippers. This is covered in the factory service manual also if you have it. I heat the feet somewhat with the hair dryer to soften the plastic - otherwise the plastic is brittle and breaks. I found this out the hard way. I hope this helps.
