87 300D rear side marker wiring help

Trying to sort electrical mystery and need a little help: Can someone with an 87 300D verify whether the left side marker is or is not supposed to be connected with the No. 3 fuse? I have read the fuse guide and wiring diagrams ... the fuses list "parking lamp," which according to my wiring diagram list are the same as the tail lamp? It doesn't specifically list side markers, though I had assumed the left side goes on No. 8 fuse with the tail and front side marker on that side. In the wiring diagram, both rear side markers are labelled as being on circuit "SM" as the wires enter N7 ... but "SM" isn't listed as going on to any fuse. Whereas the taillamp/parking lamps are either on 58L or 58R which are clearly labelled as connected to No. 8 or No. 3 fuse.
It would help me a lot to know if the fact that my left rear side marker lights up with (or goes out with) the No. 3 fuse is expected or a problem. If that is not how it's supposed to work, it narrows down my reasons for why that fuse is blowing (sort of). Can anybody either clarify the wiring diagram, or just go pull the No. 3 fuse and see what happens to the left side marker?

Sorry my 300TD is up on stands at vstech's mercedes heaven in NC or I would have run out to the garage to try. Major driveline rebuild before my son takes it off to college.

I agree the drawings are confusing and it doesn't give the detail of what is inside the N7 relay.

However if John is around maybe he can try this for you next time he's by my car.

Thanks ... it's not really a huge rush, just one of those mental puzzles that's driving me nuts. I was thinking earlier today I really need a few more w124s, so in situations like this I can average them out to assess what is and isn't normal behavior.

Just tried it in my car. Key out, park lights on, fuse 3 out, no power to left rear side marker. No power to warning buzzer either.

Thanks Sixto ... that is very helpful to know. If both those rear side markers are indeed intended to be on the No. 3 fuse, then mine is functioning as it's supposed to. Which means the license-plate lamp harness was likely (hopefully) the cause for my fuse problem.

vstech ... that is tempting ... I need to get a tow package on my Jeep ...

yup... actually, I've never gotten rid of the cars... I just moved them to other yards. I need to get them all gone.

Thayer is coming to get my 95TE wagon, but I've still got a few 124's for parts and LOTS of 126's and a pair of 123's left...
