do I detect the evil servo? or is it monovalve? I cannot tell, but it does not look like euro climate control.
the PS pump nut is from an 84+ I am pretty sure you have a hodge podge vehicle with parts from several different year and origination vehicles.

as said, only the 81 w123 has the electronic speedo. are you certain the vehicle is an 80? I may be mistaken, but the bumper does appear euro.

also, I do not see the R4 compressor, it appears you have the sanden bracket on there... what A/C compressor is on there?

Good eye. Even with the hood pad gone you should see the dark paint around the edges of the hood...

I think I also spy the huge mess of tubes going to an evil servo...

When did the W123 switch to the newer style cruise control? That car has the older system.

1981 for the 300td turbo. 1982 for all other w123 diesels.

The VIN should tell a lot about the car in the EPC.

Yep I am pretty sure this has the last run of the evil servo....so it wouldn't be a euro spec I imagine...car has to be an 80 or 81....no loop plugs...

I don't think the a/c is us... the suction line appears to be aftermarket, like what would come with a euro. the IP is CERTAINLY euro, the compressor is not in the picture, but I think I see a sanden compressor plate mount under the fuel filter.
the power steering pump lid nut is from an 84 or newer vehicle, the transmission is from an 81TD or an 81+ SD... the bumper appears to be euro, the aux fan mounts are not installed correctly. the body has the evil servo, so it's 80 max.
most likely, the engine came from a euro TD, assuming the pump is on the head... the problem with THAT is the wagons were all turbo in 84, the first year with the M pump... and the M pump is NON turbo... so it's unlikely the head is wagon...

bottom line, the vehicle has a lot of parts from a lot of vehicles...
and the engine is unlikely to have ever been in a wagon.

I think the suction line design is correct for the year. MB used the suction line with stilts up to the 1981 model year. They started using the "low" to the block suction line with the 1981 300td and the rest of the diesels in 1982 to make room for the newer cruise control.

I'm pretty sure, the low suction line was introduced when the R4 compressor came out in 79... my wagon was a 79 and I think that's the way it was.
that suction line appears to route at an angle, and looks odd. either way, I don't see an R4 in there, and for SURE the US wagons had the R4 in 80...

Your right about the R4. It looks like a Rollguy bracket is mounted there.

Sorry, no sign of any paint work ever being done on this car. It is all original front to back (well you know what I mean). What you may be seeing under the hood is glue from the original hood pad that disintegrated.

It has the original WORKING SLS, including the pump on the head.
